For the youngest visitors, a ‘magic book’ was developed, in which they can play with letters and words. This lifesize magic book shows bespoke illustrations and takes children on an interactive treasure hunt through fairy tales and adventures. Museum West Zealand & Khora Virtual Reality

On the morning of the 21st June 1806, Ringsted Monastery caught fire. The monastery and its impressive church, St. Bendt's Church has stood here since 1100. The fire is violent and ignites the thatched roof of the monastery's barn buildings. Soon the fire spreads to the church. The lead roof melts, the bells detach and crash down through the tower, the spire with the cross topples over the roof and falls down into the grass in front of the church. For opera houses and theaters, virtual reality opens up both production opportunities and the doors for an entirely new audience that might not otherwise dare to get their first taste of art. At the opera, the stage is the most coveted location: rehearsals, stage building, guided tours and, of course, the daily performances take place right there. But making all these things possible in just one place often leads to scheduling and spatial challenges. The Vienna State Opera joined forces with the Viennese research company VRVis Zentrum für Virtual Reality und Visualisierung to make a virtual reality version of the auditorium and opera stage. In the VR version of the Vienna …

The old abbey at Esrum (northern Zealand, Denmark) has a rich history and is a museum today. It was founded in 1151 and was once one of the largest and most famous abbeys in Denmark, but lost to us in 1559. Now, only one building remains. Esrum Kloster wanted to recreate the original abbey in virtual reality to allow visitors the ability to experience it. We collaborated with the historians at Esrum Kloster and used reference material from churches and abbeys throughout Europe to create this virtual tour that transports the audience back in time to Esrum Kloster at its height. Visitors can now virtually tour the entire abbey on an immersive historic and spiritual journey through the old …

The virtual tour is therefore the result of two parallel processes at the service of a new experience in heritage interpretation. Firstly, a technological process where use has been made of the latest digital innovations at the service of heritage and, secondly, a humanistic and interpretative process, based on obtaining new knowledge about this heritage. The result is a new product that enables new audiences to be reached, without the conditioning factors of a strategic plant for the intake and pumping of water that provides an essential service to the city of Barcelona and its environs. With virtual tours, geographical barriers cease to be a conditioning factor and the experience of …
