One of the most valuable treasures of the Onassis Library is Charta (Map) of Greece, printed in Vienna in 1796-7 by Rigas Velestinlis, a revolutionary figure of the Greek Enlightenment. It depicts almost the whole of Southeast Europe and is widely considered as the most important example of Greek cartography that inspired the Greek Revolution for Independence in 1821, influencing also neighboring people in the Balkans. The Charta, besides the traditional depiction of a map of the Balkan Peninsula, includes an extensive array of symbols, figures, and pictures, whilst enriching points of this map with information, becoming a “multimedia” piece ahead of its time. The fire is violent and ignites the thatched roof of the monastery's barn buildings. Soon the fire spreads to the church. The townspeople, the priest and the churchmen stand terrified before the burning buildings. Large parts of the church are destroyed and the fire rages through Ringsted town, leaving houses in ruins and people homeless. The …

But will they be Museums for all? We are not only talking about the classic categories of disabilities. What about free wifi, open data policy, gluten-free and vegan food options, bicycle parking, gender-neutral language, and childcare? Most big institutions have already learned the lesson and adapted to new visitor profiles, on site and online. To help the many thousands of smaller museums all over Europe, we have founded Museum For All, an initiative that started in Spain and …

For opera houses and theaters, virtual reality opens up both production opportunities and the doors for an entirely new audience that might not otherwise dare to get their first taste of art. At the opera, the stage is the most coveted location: rehearsals, stage building, guided tours and, of course, the daily performances take place right there. But making all these things possible in just one place often leads to scheduling and spatial challenges. The Vienna State Opera joined forces with the Viennese research company VRVis Zentrum für Virtual Reality und Visualisierung to make a virtual reality version of the auditorium and opera stage. In the VR version of the Vienna …
